چکیده

The hyperspherical coordinates approach to three-electron atomic systems is further refined by taking into account the symmetry of the electrons analytically. Spins are treated explicitly for both doublet and quartet cases to reduce the three-electron Schrödinger equation to a set of coupled two-dimensional partial differential equations in a compact, symmetric form ready for numerical calculations. It is shown that the resulting equations can be accurately solved using B splines. By adopting the adiabatic approximation, the hyperspherical potential curves for singly, doubly, and triply excited states for the P symmetry of Li are obtained. @S1050-2947~96!03506-8#

Numerical generation of hyperspherical harmonics for tetra-atomic systems.

A numerical generation method of hyperspherical harmonics for tetra-atomic systems, in terms of row-orthonormal hyperspherical coordinates-a hyper-radius and eight angles-is presented. The nine-dimensional coordinate space is split into three three-dimensional spaces, the physical rotation, kinematic rotation, and kinematic invariant spaces. The eight-angle principal-axes-of-inertia hyperspheri...

Hyperspherical analysis of doubly and triply excited states of Li

A computational method for calculating the hyperspherical adiabatic potential curves for three-electron atomic systems is presented. This method allows us to obtain accurate potential curves for any symmetries more efficiently. The potential curves for the Li(S) symmetry are analyzed. For the ground state, the energy calculated using the single channel adiabatic approximation is in good agreeme...

Hyperspherical partial wave theory applied to electron hydrogen - atom ionization calculation for equal energy sharing kinematics

Hyperspherical partial wave theory has been applied here in a new way in the calculation of the triple differential cross sections for the ionization of hydrogen atoms by electron impact at low energies for various equal-energy-sharing kinematic conditions. The agreement of the cross section results with the recent absolute measurements of Röder et al [51] and with the latest theoretical result...

Analysis of 1s2l2l′ and 2l2l′2l′′ resonances of He− ions

Hyperspherical adiabatic potential curves for the three-electron He− ions are calculated. Potential curves that support 1s2l2l′ doubly excited states and 2l2l′2l′′ triply excited states are analysed to interpret the possible existence and the nature, including the relative autoionization widths, of these states. We show that doubly excited states of He− can be classified using the same set of q...

Photoionization cross section for He in the hyperspherical coordinate method

The hyperspherical coordinate method developed by Macek, Fano, Lin, and Klar to describe two-electron correlations is used for the first time to treat an atomic photoionization process. Using adiabatic approximations for both the initial and the final state, the cross section for the process He +γ +He+1s +e– is calculated and is found to lie 1% higher than the revised experimental data of Samso...
